Nurture your dreams

Having a dream is one thing. Talking about them and sharing your dreams with another person is something different. But do you believe that your dreams will come true? Do you feel deep within that everything you truly want in your life is possible? Thinking positive might not be enough. It might take something more. You need to nurture your dreams.

It’s something we all do from time to time. We stare into the distance and fantasize about how our lives could be different. We imagine the new things we wish to experience, new people we like to meet. At times we do a bit more and make way for our fantasies and we write about them, or draw or paint them. When we feel secure enough we might even go one step further and we dare to share our dreams with someone close to us.

Having dreams is a beautiful thing. But how do we make sure they come true?

Positive thinking

Positive thinking and living a positive life, there are a lot of theories and books written about how they will help you make your dreams come true. That we truly are capable of creating the life we want.

I admit, it’s something I do as well. Every start of a new year and whenever there’s a new moon I fantasize about how I wish my life would be. About the new things and new people I like to welcome in my life. I imagine how it would look, who these persons would be and how it would feel. Sometimes I take this a step further and I use a big sheet of paper and my pencils to draw the images I see in my head. Sadly nothing happens…

How much effort I put into positive thinking, in writing and drawing and feeling how it would feel, some of my dreams still aren’t appearing in my life.

I wish it was this easy, that by thinking positive everything would come true. It sure helps. Thinking positive is way better than thinking about what is missing from your live or complaining about the bad things that are happening. After all, you will attract the energy that you send out into the world.

Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics ~ Albert Einstein

Still, thinking and feeling might not be enough and something else is needed to make your dreams come true.

Listen to your body

When you are dreaming, or thinking or writing or drawing your dreams, do you listen to your body? Is there something different that you feel or experience?

Perhaps your stomach ties in knots or you feel choked up when you think about your dream. You might notice that you’re not that grounded and you’re all over the place when you start to think about that your dream might come true.

Perhaps a memory from your past bubbles up. A memory of something that has happened or someone you once met. And together with this memory emotions like anger, resentment or grief show up as well.

Take a moment and try to feel into these feelings and find out what they mean to you.

It is possible that even if you want something really bad, something else might stand between you and your dreams. An insecurity, fear or memory that you haven’t let go off yet. Even when you do your best to think positive, these things will end up influencing the energy you send out and will add a different (negative) vibration to your dreams. Before your dreams have the chance to come closer, it might be best to investigate these feelings and to deal with them so you can let them go.

Faith and patience

So, this is how I’m spending these days, reflecting upon my life. Listening to my body and zooming into the feelings that show up in my life. Is there something that unconsciously or consciously stands between me and my dreams? Something that stops my dreams from coming true?

I’ve noticed that a lot of the old structures and insecurities are gone now. It’s the result of my hard work from the past years, from developing my intuition and from learning to look at my life’s experiences in a different way.

Every now and then some old memory shows up and shakes up my life by letting me feel the old emotions again. But this time things are different though. This time I watch and observe them from the sidelines. This time I’m able to think different, and better thoughts. And one of them is; I deserve to have a so much better experience!

Positive thinking is one thing. Feeling you’re worth it really brings you closer to your dreams.

Instead of my stomach tied in knots or me choking up, this new thought brings a solid and calm feeling deep within my body. Solid like an unshakable faith that my dreams are possible. That the things I feel in my heart are the things that belong to me. There is nothing left that stands between me and my dreams. A faith that all is well.

After you plant a seed in the ground, you don’t dig it up every week to see how it’s doing  ~ William J. Coyne

What there’s left to do? Holding on to my faith, and finding patience. Trusting that everything happens at the right moment. Not the moment that I want, but the divine moment when everything adds up. Then the only thing left for me to do is paying attention and recognizing my opportunities when they show up. And when they do, I will go for it!

About me
Being sensitive and feeling your emotions is powerful and positive. But for centuries we’re thinking quite the opposite. We’ve been wrong all this time. We are starting to understand that not feeling and avoiding to talk about our feelings is what is causing our problems (stress, depression, unhealthy choices). We now also know that being sensitive is more than emotions and that it’s a quality that can help us in many more ways. By sharing my own stories I’d love to show you that being sensitive and feeling your difficult emotions is much stronger than not feeling at all and that as a sensitive being (which we all are) we can just Be.
